A couple of additional points of interest from an Alexander Technique perspective:
- I learned that Hockney can move his easel up and down by means of an electric motor, so that close, detailed work is always conducted at the optimum height.
- In relation to the concept of psychophysical unity (F M Alexander's term for the inseparable nature of the physical and mental aspects of our selves), I was interested to read curator Edith Delaney's reflection on her experience as a sitter: "Being subjected to such close scrutiny makes one consider the effect of one's thought processes on one's physical appearance."
