"I came for Alexander lessons because my posture was very bad. My family made a point of constantly telling me to stand up straight so I wanted them to stop nagging me. I also had my cousin's wedding coming up so I wanted to be able to walk confidently down the aisle. The Alexander Technique has helped me improve my posture and feel more confident. I will remember to let my shoulders widen and to sit on my sitting-bones. I will also remember to stop and think before I do things and to be more aware of the world around me. I won't over-straighten my back or go from slouching to sitting up straight immediately. Thank you very much for being my teacher and for teaching me the techniques so I can help myself." "I have now had about 10 Alexander lessons and I am amazed by the difference it has made in such a short time. I have had back pain for quite a while now and during my revision for my GCSE exams it got a lot worse. I have done ballet for 12 years and through my Alexander lessons I have realised that this has given me back pain. This is due to my constantly tense lower back, locked knees and tense shoulders. In these lessons I have discovered how to release these tensions and stand correctly, which has greatly decreased my pain. I also realised after a few lessons that I constantly arched my back slightly. Although this has been more difficult to alter than the tensions due to ballet I have gradually been able to correct this when I notice and. This has also greatly decreased my pain." "We hugely appreciate what you do with [our 20-year-old son]. I would be more than happy to recommend you to anyone but especially parents of young people on the spectrum. You really are helping [our son] think in a different way...I think what has been so important, and what made him so comfortable with you straight away, is that he is 'seen' by you, the whole of him, not just his autism, and so he can relax and listen and learn. You engage him and he's interested and it is stress-free. All of these, I think, allow him to be touched by you, have you hold his hands, touch his head and neck, which is so important for him to feel what you are teaching him." Laura, London N10
